Your Impact
- The Indigenous heritage of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and Six Nations communities comes to life throughout the Basadinaa Experience, an Indigenous-led trail signage journey in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area.
- In celebration of Westfield Heritage Village Conservation Area’s 60th Anniversary, a new garden of native shrubs, flowers, and edible plants blooms to life. Accessibility was at the heart of every design decision, with wide, flat paths and wheelchair-accessible raised garden beds and picnic names.
- After years of weathering and stopgap measures, the Hermitage Ruins in Dundas Valley Conservation Area were comprehensively and durably restored, ensuring that the edifice will capture the imagination of generations to come.
From restoring historical buildings to creating new immersive experiences, efforts to preserve and educate on our region’s history, culture, and built heritage are all supported by Hamilton Conservation Foundation donors!
Hamilton Conservation Authority’s Commitment to Cultural Heritage
In protecting and enhancing the Hamilton watershed, HCA has come to steward rich array of heritage buildings, archaeological sites, and artifacts. Preserving our region’s cultural heritage is folded into HCA’s strategic priorities of Natural Heritage Conservation and Connecting People to Nature.
Currently, the Foundation’s cultural heritage fundraising priorities focus on Westfield Heritage Village Conservation Area.
Westfield Heritage Village is renowned across Ontario as a living history museum capturing early Canadian culture, and as a scenic natural site. It’s a place where history has deep roots and community blossoms. The Foundation is grateful for our continuing partnership with the Friends of Westfield, a dedicated group of volunteers and donors.
