Celebrate Extraordinary Lives in Your Extraordinary Conservation Areas
Tribute gifts commemorate all kinds of memories: the birth of a child, wedding anniversaries, graduations, retirements, valued employees, and treasured family members.
We offer three options to dedicate tribute gifts:
- Benches. Your gift of $5,000 supports bench construction, installation, an engraved dedication plaque, and maintenance for 10 years. Additionally, a portion of your gift will fund native planting and trail maintenance within the bench’s conservation area home.
- Trees. Your gift of $125 supports native tree and shrub planting in Hamilton’s Conservation Areas. Your tribute honouree’s name will be recognized on signage in the Beckett Forest at Dundas Valley Conservation Area.
- General Donations. Using our online donation form, you may designate a gift for any amount as a tribute. All honourees in a given year, including bench and tree tributes, are acknowledged in our annual report.

Tribute Bench Details
Benches are constructed from durable composite planks that are mounted onto two metal legs and secured to concrete. An engraved tribute plaque gets mounted into the top plank and can fit up to four lines of text.
Requests for tribute benches are accepted year-round; benches are installed in the spring and fall. Suitable bench locations are pre-selected by Conservation Authority staff each year and are filled on a first-come-first-serve basis.
Currently, bench sites are available at:
- Christie Lake Conservation Area
- Dundas Valley Conservation Area (limited availability; contact us for details)
- Fifty Point Conservation Area
- Hamilton Mountain Conservation Areas, including Eramosa Karst, Felker’s Falls, Dofasco 2000 Trail, and Lafarge 2000 Trail
- Westfield Heritage Village Conservation Area

Tribute Tree Details
So that your gift has the greatest possible impact, your tribute tree donation will be put to work on Hamilton Conservation Authority’s next planting project. Because HCA will plant wherever trees and shrubs are most needed, this means we can’t tell you exactly which trees will be planted with your donation. We simply guarantee that your gift will fund planting!
We do not place individual markers or plaques in front of trees planted through this program. Instead, names of gift recipients, given in honour, memory, and celebration, are included on signage in the Beckett Forest at Dundas Valley Conservation Area.
