We are Rooted in the places where we explore, discover nature, create memories, and experience the land together.
We are Rooted in the connections we make with nature and each other.
We are Rooted in the responsibility to conserve these places for generations to come.
This fall, the Rooted campaign celebrates legacy while looking forward to the future. We believe that one act of generosity can help protect a wetland, preserve a forest, provide habitat for wildlife, and create a lasting impact.
To celebrate the Hamilton Conservation Foundation’s 50th anniversary, we are raising $500,000 to acquire and conserve ecologically significant land.
The next 50 years of protected natural lands start with you.

Join Us in Protecting Land
Safeguarding land sits at the heart of the shared history between the Hamilton Conservation Authority (HCA) and the Hamilton Conservation Foundation. For 50 years, we have helped preserve irreplaceable natural spaces across the region.
Now, we are building on that legacy by permanently protecting 200 acres of forested wetland at the headwaters of Fletcher Creek, located near Valens Lake and Fletcher Creek Conservation Areas. This is HCA’s largest acquisition in recent history. Opportunities to protect land of this size, quality, and ecological importance are exceedingly rare. Once land is secured by HCA, it is protected and preserved for future generations to enjoy.
Why the Time is Now
Across Ontario, natural lands are disappearing faster than they can be protected. Wetlands are being drained, forests fragmented, and headwater systems altered. Once these landscapes are lost, they cannot be rebuilt. Their ecological function, wildlife habitat, and natural resilience are gone forever.
Together, we have a rare chance to protect land that will benefit both wildlife and our community. By securing this property, we ensure that children growing up in our community will inherit thriving wetlands, healthy forests, and living classrooms where they can explore, learn, and become the next generation of environmental stewards.
Your Gift Will
