Thank you to our donors
In 2011, the Foundation raised more than $700,000 to support HCA projects. Securement and stewardship of natural lands, heritage programs, outdoor environmental education and capital improvements are made possible through the generosity of many individuals, corporations, foundations and volunteers. Thank you!
Every year, we thank our donors at our spring social and Annual General Meeting. Our Donor Wall recognizes donors whose cumulative gifts have attained or moved up to a new giving level ranging from $1000 to $1 million or more. View our Donor Wall in person at our main office, or by clicking here.
Thank you to the Dobson-McKee family
Since 2007, the Dobson-McKee family has generously donated $550,000 to the Foundation for Environmental Education and enhancements at Webster’s Falls. This tremendous support helps to purchase equipment and supplies for thousands of children and youth participating in natural history and environmental conservation programs.
In October 2010, the Foundation, HCA, members of the Dobson-McKee family, and local dignitaries unveiled new enhancements at Spencer Gorge/ Webster’s Falls Conservation Area. HCA constructed a wheelchair-accessible walkway from the parking lot to an accessible viewing platform above Webster’s Falls and added several benches and accessible picnic tables. Interpretive panels have also been installed near the lookout so visitors can learn more about the geology, history, flora and fauna of the Spencer Gorge, Webster’s Falls and Niagara Escarpment.
Heritage Green Community Trust
The Foundation wishes to specially recognize Heritage Green Community Trust and the Hamilton Home Builders Association.
In 2006, Heritage Green Community Trust committed $1.5M to develop the Eramosa Karst Conservation Area and establish an endowment fund to provide annual funds for the ongoing operations and maintenance of this new conservation area in East Hamilton.
In 2012, Heritage Green Community Trust committed an additional $165,000 to develop a trail link between the Heritage Green Sports Park and Felker’s Falls Conservation Area.
The Hamilton-Halton Home-Builders Association members have contributed more than $450,000 support to create the East Mountain Trail Loop, the newest addition to our trail network in east Hamilton and Stoney Creek Mountain.
