What are Donor Advised Funds?
Donor Advised Funds (DAFs) are investment accounts used to support charitable organizations. These funds are typically run by a third party that manages donations on behalf of an individual, family, or a business. DAFs are a flexible and tax efficient way to support causes you care about, including the work we do at Hamilton Conservation Foundation.
Benefits of Giving Through Donor Advised Funds
- Donor advised funds allow your gifts to grow, tax-free. Donors can take a tax deduction for all contributions made to a fund, even though the money you invest may take years to be dispersed to the Hamilton Conservation Foundation. You can also choose to invest the funds you’ve contributed, so your future donation has the potential to grow tax-free.
- Donor advised funds operate efficiently. Donor advised funds offer many of the same benefits as private charitable foundations, but without the same operating costs or administrative overhead.
